Type I diabetes also called MELLITUS DIABETES MELLITUS or affects 1 in every 10 people that become insulin dependent (IDDM) or early-onset and usually have before age 30. Insulin should be administered daily for the rest of life. Symptoms can appear suddenly and include the following:
- Excessive thirst Frequent urination Hunger
- intense body weight decreased unexplained weakness and fatigue
Diabetes type
II also called diabetes mellitus or non insulin MELLITUS (NIDDM) or adult-onset.
It occurs most often after age 40 in overweight people. Can be controlled with a balanced diet, moderate decrease in body weight and exercise, if this is ineffective, we use oral medications or insulin injections, symptoms are: excessive thirst
- Frequent urination Blurred vision
- recurrent bladder infections and skin.
- slow wound healing Irritability
- Tingling or loss of sensation in hands and feet.
- Sticking to a program
- Consider the input fiber
- Limit foods high in fat.
- not abuse proteins.
- Avoid empty calories (candy, cookies and other sweet foods)
- Drinking alcohol with extreme moderation, if there is no risk, you can consume light beer with low sugar content, dry wines. Remember that these drinks should be considered in the total carbohydrates.
- Monitor body weight
- Include in the daily routine 30 minutes of exercise.
